Button box

A small box made from beech, with a decorative button on the lid. This could suggest that the box is meant to hold buttons, but this really is only a suggestion.

The button is made from panga panga, a wood very similar to wenge, and in fact it does actually belong the same genus (millettia). Very hard, with a tendency to splinter, so it was quite tricky to get a nice button shape out of it.
