Like most wood turners, I have made a lot of little helper tools myself. Firstly, because I enjoy doing it. Secondly, because these little helpers do precisely what I want them to do. And finally, because I didn’t see the point of spending money on them, when I could easily make them myself.
Don’t get me wrong, I am not advocating to make your own bowl gouges or scrapers. That is best left to companies with the right equipment. Over time I’ll provide some reviews here of those manufactured tools, where appropriate.
And then there will be lots of articles here about all these little helpers, in the hope that other people might find them useful and copy, or even improve, my designs. And I’ll be quite honest, that’s just what I did on many occasions. After all, wood turning has been around for a very long time.
